Overnight Anti-Drunk Driving Crackdown Nets Five in Quezon City

  • April 25, 2026

An overnight anti-drunk and drugged driving crackdown in Quezon City led to the arrest of five violators during checkpoint operations across major roads, police said.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the operation ran from 10 p.m. on April 24 to 2:50 a.m. on April 25 as part of its enforcement of Republic Act No. 10586, or the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.

The joint anti-criminality checkpoint was led by the District Traffic Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Land Transportation Office, Philippine Coast Guard, Highway Patrol Group, and local police units, including Kamuning Police Station 10.

Authorities set up checkpoints in high-traffic areas such as Tomas Morato, Timog Avenue, EDSA, and Quezon Avenue, targeting motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

The QCPD said the operation resulted in the issuance of 10 Ordinance Violation Receipts (OVRs), the impounding of one motorcycle, and the arrest of five individuals for violating the law.

“The QCPD reiterates its commitment to ensuring road safety and strictly enforcing traffic laws to prevent accidents caused by impaired driving. Motorists are reminded to remain responsible and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances,” the QCPD said.

The district added that similar operations will continue as part of efforts to promote road discipline and reduce traffic-related incidents in the city.
