SB19, Kento Nakajima release new version of ‘GENTO’

What started as a playful TikTok collaboration has turned into a full-fledged musical crossover, as Filipino pop powerhouse SB19 teams up with Japanese singer-actor Kento Nakajima for a new version of their breakout hit, “GENTO.”

Released on October 30, “GENTO feat. Kento Nakajima” gives one of P-pop’s most recognizable anthems a second life, this time bridging two of Asia’s increasingly influential pop music scenes.

But the collaboration didn’t happen overnight.

The unlikely partnership began with a “GENTO with Kento Nakajima” TikTok project filmed during SB19’s visit to Japan in 2025. The playful connection between the song’s title and Nakajima’s name caught attention online, eventually evolving into something much bigger.

By August 15, 2026, the two acts were sharing the stage at SUMMER SONIC Tokyo, where they debuted the collaboration before a live festival audience.

Now, that performance has become an official release.

Rather than simply attaching a Japanese superstar to an existing hit, the collaboration introduces new lyrics partly written by Nakajima himself. The song retains its central message of hard work, ambition, and proving one’s worth — themes that helped turn “GENTO” into a defining track for SB19.

“We’re truly happy to have collaborated with Kento,” SB19 shared. “This collaboration has also reminded us of the power of music. It has been a while since we released ‘GENTO,’ but its message, its musicality, and its goal of changing people’s lives through the beat have not faded at all, and they continue to reach many hearts.”

The pairing also makes sense beyond the clever wordplay.

Nakajima, a former boy-group member who launched his solo career in December 2024, has been building his presence across Asia through concerts, acting projects, and new music. SB19, meanwhile, has continued expanding internationally, performing at SUMMER SONIC in both Osaka and Tokyo this year.

For SB19, the collaboration arrives at a particularly interesting moment. “GENTO” is already their most-streamed solo track in Japan, making Nakajima’s participation a natural extension of the song’s reach rather than an introduction to an entirely unfamiliar audience.

And that’s what makes this release significant.

In an Asian pop landscape long dominated by conversations around K-pop and J-pop, SB19’s partnership with Nakajima offers another example of how Filipino artists are becoming active collaborators in the region’s music industry, not simply performers seeking international recognition.

A TikTok moment became a festival performance. A festival performance became a recording. And a Filipino hit found another way to travel.

“GENTO feat. Kento Nakajima” is now available on digital streaming platforms worldwide through Sony Music Entertainment.

One-line summary: SB19 joins forces with Japanese star Kento Nakajima to reinvent “GENTO,” turning a viral TikTok collaboration into a cross-border pop release.

Alternative SEO headline: SB19 and Japan’s Kento Nakajima release new ‘GENTO’ collaboration after viral TikTok moment.
