SB19, BINI, Ben&Ben among Filipino artists seeking 2027 Grammy nominations

From P-pop sensations to OPM favorites, Filipino musicians are making their presence felt in the race for one of the world’s most prestigious music awards.

SB19, BINI, Ben&Ben, Maymay Entrata, and several other Filipino performers have submitted their music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards, raising hopes that homegrown talent could earn recognition on the international stage.

The growing number of entries comes as the Recording Academy introduces a new award category specifically recognizing Asian pop music, giving Filipino performers another opportunity to compete alongside artists from across the region.

But before fans start celebrating a Grammy nomination, there is an important distinction: the Filipino acts are currently seeking consideration, and the official nominees have yet to be announced.

Two of the country’s biggest P-pop groups are among those seeking a place on the Grammy nominations list.

SB19 has entered two songs: “VISA” for Best Asian Pop Music Performance and “LAWLESS” for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

BINI, meanwhile, is seeking consideration in three categories.

The eight-member girl group has submitted “Unang Kilig” for Best Asian Pop Music Performance and “A Parallel World,” featured in the animated film Forgotten Island, for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

BINI is also being considered for Best New Artist, one of the Grammys’ major categories.

Both groups have been expanding their international presence. BINI performed at Coachella in April 2026, while SB19 made its Lollapalooza debut in July.

Their Grammy submissions represent another step in efforts to bring Filipino pop music to a wider audience.

The list extends beyond the country’s leading P-pop groups.

Folk-pop band Ben&Ben has submitted “Leaves (Reimagined)” for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, revisiting one of the songs that helped establish the group’s popularity.

Singer-actress Maymay Entrata is also seeking recognition through “Masunog Man,” entered in the Best Asian Pop Music Performance category.

For Maymay, the song carries a deeply personal meaning, reflecting the grief she experienced following the death of her mother.

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have her music considered, describing it as an important moment in her artistic journey.

Other Filipino performers seeking consideration in the Asian pop category include Baby Dolls with “Oohh Lala Baby,” Carmelle with “Morena,” KHIMO with “Isayaw Mo Lang,” and Janine Berdin with “ANTOXIC.”

Filipino-American artist Thomas Orlina has also submitted “Magsayaw Na Tayo,” while ’90s OPM singer Tootsie Guevarra is seeking consideration for Best Dance Pop Recording with “It’s Tootsie.”

The entries reflect a broad mix of established performers, rising artists, and musicians working across different genres.

One of the biggest developments for the 2027 ceremony is the introduction of Best Asian Pop Music Performance.

The category is among five new awards announced by the Recording Academy for its 69th annual ceremony.

It is intended to recognize artistic excellence in Asian pop performances, reflecting the genre’s growing influence in the international music industry.

For Filipino performers, the addition is significant because it provides a category in which P-pop and other qualifying Asian pop recordings can receive specific recognition.

However, the new award does not guarantee nominations for Filipino artists. Their entries must still meet the Academy’s requirements and secure enough votes from its members.

The Recording Academy’s first round of voting began on October 12 and will continue until October 22, 2026.

The official nominees will be revealed on November 16.

Those selected will advance to the final voting stage, scheduled from December 10, 2026, to January 7, 2027.

The winners will be announced during the 69th Grammy Awards on February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.

Whether or not the submissions result in nominations, the participation of artists from different corners of the Philippine music industry highlights their ambitions to reach audiences beyond the country. For now, the songs have been entered, the voting is underway, and Filipino artists are waiting to see whether their names will appear on music’s biggest nominations list.
