A mediaman was injured in a shooting incident in Daraga town in Albay on Monday afternoon, the Daraga police station said.
The incident occurred at 4:10 p.m. in Purok 4, Barangay San Roque, said Daraga police station officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Maria Rosario Calusor.
In a statement posted on the station’s Facebook page, Calusor identified the victim as Adrian “Golden Boy” Loterte.
Loterte, an anchor of RBN News Television and a resident of the same barangay, was rushed to the Daraga Doctors Hospital for medical treatment.
Calusor did not provide additional details about the shooting incident, which she said is the subject of a “thorough investigation.”
“Updates regarding the victim’s condition and the progress of the investigation will be posted on this platform as soon as they become available,” Calusor said.
Calusor urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or graphic materials on social media, saying “these may compromise the ongoing investigation or cause unnecessary panic.”
Calusor also appealed to anyone who has “relevant information” about the incident to contact the Daraga police at hotline 0998-598-5937 or personally appear before the police station.
