The national government has set aside a P3.44-billion fund allocation intended for direct cash gifts to qualified elderly citizens in 2027.
Under the expanded social welfare framework, the budgetary allocation will provide financial grants to senior citizens reaching milestone age brackets, supporting healthcare expenses and basic living requirements.
Budget officials emphasized that early funding commitments ensure long-term sustainability for social protection initiatives.
“We are earmarking these resources early to guarantee that our senior citizens receive their mandated cash grants without administrative delay,” state budget planners said.
They also said the funding allocation directly reflects government policy focused on honoring the contributions of elderly citizens and safeguarding vulnerable households.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will oversee implementation, working alongside local government units to streamline verification lists and expedite distribution when the funding cycle takes effect in 2027.
