Malacañang on Monday denied reports alleging that the administration is floating a potential 2028 political pairing featuring Naga City Mayor and former Vice President Leni Robredo alongside National Anti-Poverty Commission Secretary and former Senator Manny Pacquiao.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro clarified during a press briefing that the Marcos administration remains focused on public governance and managing pressing national issues, including climate preparations and international economic pressures
Castro noted that no discussions regarding future political lineups have taken place within the administration.
“Ang tutok po ng Pangulo unang-una kailangan tugunan ang problema sa paparating ng Super El Niño. Marami pa po dapat tugunan pati po itong mga isyu tungkol sa crisis sa Middle East,” Castro said.
Emphasizing a policy-first approach over early campaign maneuvering, Castro added: “Sa ngayon po ay hindi politika or pamumulitika ang iniisip ng administrasyon. So, trabaho lang po muna tayo. Huwag puro eleksyon-eleksyon. Action-action muna.”
The Palace’s statement comes in response to claims made by political strategist Lito Banayo, who alleged that an insider source within Malacañang indicated a Robredo-Pacquiao ticket was under consideration for the 2028 presidential race.
Addressing Banayo’s claims directly, Castro pointed out that the political strategist is not a member of the current administration.
