Health authorities in the capital are tracking an upward trend in multiple infections as influenza-like illnesses (ILIs), dengue, and leptospirosis continue to spread across Manila, according to the “latest disease monitoring report of the Manila Health Department (MHD).”
Public updates released through the official social media account of “Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso shared the MHD’s Daily W.I.L.D. Disease Update,” revealing that local health units logged “90 new ILI cases on Tuesday, Sept. 15.”
The sudden spike in respiratory conditions has “brought Manila’s total ILI cases to 1,635 from Jan. 1 to Sept. 15, 2026.”
Vector-borne and waterborne threats also showed steady gains in the city’s surveillance network. “The MHD also reported 74 new dengue cases, raising the city’s total to 3,001 cases so far this year,” while “33 new leptospirosis cases were recorded, bringing the total number of cases to 1,320 during the same period.”
Additionally, municipal surveillance registered “one new case of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI), bringing its year-to-date total to 389 cases.”
Despite the rise in seasonal conditions, several major infectious diseases showed zero growth in the latest health monitoring tally. “No new cases of COVID-19, typhoid fever, or cholera were recorded in the latest update,” keeping cumulative counts steady as “their total cases remained at 93, 74 and four, respectively.”
City health experts noted that these cumulative “figures cover cases recorded in Manila from Jan. 1 through Sept. 15, 2026, based on the MHD’s latest disease update.”
