The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued two fishermen after their motorbanca capsized due to large waves off Barangay 32-B La Paz, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, on August 8, 2026.
Coast Guard personnel, assisted by local residents, immediately responded to the incident and reached the fishermen using a bamboo raft. Both fishermen were succesffully brought to shore in good condition and turned over to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for medical assessment.
PCG said the two were fishing in the area when severe waves hit their motorbanca and eventually capsized.
