Hospitality Sector Accelerates Digital Shift Amid Tourism Growth, Cyber Risks

Globe Business is expanding its digital services for hotels, restaurants, and cafés as the hospitality sector seeks to improve guest experiences, streamline operations, and strengthen protection against cyber threats.

The company said demand for cloud services, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and reliable connectivity is increasing as Philippine tourism and the digital travel economy continue to grow.

Medical and wellness tourism, meetings and conventions, experiential travel, and the expanding “workation” market are also pushing hospitality businesses to modernize their services.

Globe Business Consulting and Architecture head Marlon Cruz said hospitality companies must effectively connect every digital touchpoint in a customer’s journey.

“Today, the most successful hospitality businesses rely on how effectively a company integrates every digital touchpoint of the guest journey,” Cruz said.

He said the company’s “Intelligent Transformation” strategy aims to help businesses use technology to support employees, protect guest information, and generate sustainable revenue.

Globe Business cited industry data showing that 87 percent of Filipino consumers expect personalized experiences. It also said cyberattacks targeting hospitality businesses have increased by 325 percent, underscoring the sector’s exposure to data breaches and other digital threats.

The company said automation could help businesses manage labor shortages and rising operating costs by handling routine tasks such as reservations, billing, and administrative work.

This would allow employees to focus more on customer service and other responsibilities requiring direct engagement with guests.

Hospitality operators may also use artificial intelligence and real-time analytics to analyze customer information and provide more relevant recommendations and personalized services.

Industry benchmarks cited by Globe Business suggest that effective personalization could raise a customer’s lifetime value by 20 percent to 30 percent.
