Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete has called for sustained modernization and systems innovation within the Armor “Pambato” Division as the military strengthens its territorial defense capabilities.
Nafarrete issued the directive during the division’s 50th founding anniversary at Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac, on July 10.
In his keynote address, the Army chief backed the unit’s efforts to improve combat readiness through new technologies, upgraded facilities and equipment, and continued personnel development.
“You relentlessly pursued modernization initiatives, embraced new technologies, and invested in facilities, equipment, and most of all, your personnel,” Nafarrete told the troops.
Armor Division Commander Maj. Gen. Ronel R. Manalo said the unit has evolved from a Light Armor Regiment into a full division capable of commanding tanks, mechanized infantry, and cavalry units.
He said the transformation supports the Army’s broader shift from internal security operations toward external and territorial defense.
The Army said continued investment in equipment, systems, and troop training is intended to improve the division’s ability to respond to emerging security threats and protect the country’s sovereignty.
