Toyota Confirms 650-PS GR GT Supercar Is Coming to the Philippines

Toyota Motor Philippines is bringing the GR GT to the country, marking the planned local arrival of the automaker’s most powerful and advanced road-going performance car.

The GR GT is Toyota Gazoo Racing’s new flagship supercar, developed as what the company calls a “road-legal race car.”

Toyota has not yet announced the model’s Philippine launch date, price, allocation or final local specifications.

Globally, the GR GT pairs a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a single-motor hybrid system.

Toyota is targeting a combined output of at least 650 PS, roughly 641 horsepower, and more than 850 Newton-meters of torque.

The company stressed that these remain development targets and may change before the production model reaches customers.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission integrated with the electric motor in a rear-mounted transaxle.

Toyota says the layout helps produce a 45:55 front-to-rear weight distribution, while the low-slung body, all-aluminum frame and carbon-fiber components were designed to reduce weight and improve rigidity.

The GR GT is also equipped with double-wishbone suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and wide 20-inch performance tires.

Its targeted top speed is more than 320 kilometers per hour.

Unlike Toyota’s more accessible GR86, GR Yaris and GR Corolla performance models, the GR GT sits at the top of the Gazoo Racing lineup and is expected to compete with high-end sports cars from Porsche, Mercedes-AMG and other premium manufacturers.

It was developed alongside the GR GT3 race car, with lessons from motorsports influencing the road car’s aerodynamics, cooling, chassis and handling.

The GR GT also arrives as Toyota prepares to end the current GR Supra generation, positioning the new model as the company’s next halo performance car.

For Philippine enthusiasts, the confirmation is significant even before the price is announced.

The country is not traditionally among the first markets to receive limited-production supercars, and local allocation could be extremely restricted.

Toyota Motor Philippines has yet to say whether the GR GT will be offered through regular dealerships, selected Gazoo Racing outlets or a special-order system.

Until official local details are released, one point is certain: Toyota’s most ambitious modern sports car is headed to Philippine roads.
