The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority activated its Emergency Operations Center on Friday morning to monitor the possible effects of Typhoon Inday on Metro Manila and ensure quick response to weather-related emergencies.

The center was activated at 7 a.m. under the directive of MMDA Chairman Don Artes.

Metropolitan Public Safety Office Head Atty. Crisanto Saruca Jr. and Flood Control and Sewerage Management Office Director Mark Navarro led the monitoring operations at the MMDA Communications and Command Center in Pasig City.

The MMDA said its rescue teams and emergency response assets have been placed on standby for possible deployment.

The agency is also conducting round-the-clock weather monitoring to ensure a swift and coordinated response to flooding, road incidents, and other typhoon-related emergencies in the National Capital Region.

Representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government–National Capital Region also joined the monitoring operations as part of coordinated disaster preparedness efforts.
