Government Starts Second Phase of EDSA Rehab Project

The government has started the second phase of the EDSA Rehabilitation Project as part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve Metro Manila’s busiest road corridor and make travel safer for motorists and commuters.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos ordered Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon to ensure that the rehabilitation of EDSA would deliver stronger roads, wider sidewalks, and better-quality infrastructure materials.

Castro said repair works for the second phase began on Saturday, July 4, along the northbound Ortigas Bus Lane in Mandaluyong City.

She said the President wants the rehabilitation of EDSA prioritized because of its role as Metro Manila’s main transport artery, serving thousands of commuters and motorists daily.

Castro said the project aims to improve road conditions, support smoother traffic flow, and reduce disruptions along one of the capital region’s most heavily used routes.

The Palace official said the project is in line with the administration’s Bagong Pilipinas agenda, which calls for infrastructure projects that are not only completed but built to high standards.

She said the government wants Filipinos to feel concrete improvements in public services through safer, more durable, and better-planned infrastructure.
