Police arrested Region 9’s eighth most wanted person during a joint law enforcement operation in Barangay Guimba Lagasan, Parang, Sulu, on July 12.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the suspect as alias “Ning,” a 22-year-old Filipino resident of Parang.
Operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Sulu Provincial Field Unit and police and Army personnel carried out the arrest through a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court in Jolo, Sulu, on March 2, 2026, for murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code. No bail was recommended.
Authorities said the suspect is listed as the No. 8 Regional Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 9 for the killing of a female assistant schools division superintendent in Sulu.
Investigators alleged that the suspect repeatedly shot the education official inside an education office compound along Bonifacio Street in Barangay San Raymundo, Jolo, on February 7, 2025.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the face and back and died instantly, according to police.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said “Every lawful arrest strengthens public confidence in our justice system and demonstrates that accountability remains at the core of our mission to protect the Filipino people. We will remain resolute in pursuing every individual who seeks to evade the law.”
