Authorities rescued a man in distress from the rooftop of a four-story building at a resort in Barangay Sta. Rita, Olongapo City on Friday morning, July 3.
Personnel from the Olongapo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and Barangay Sta. Rita responded to the incident after resort staff and bystanders saw the man, identified only by the alias “Jay,” on the rooftop at around 10 a.m.
BCDA Director and former Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino also assisted in the response and helped speak with the man through a public address system.
After negotiations, responders were able to safely bring him down. He was later reunited with his relatives and live-in partner.

Officials credited the successful rescue to the quick response and coordination of emergency personnel, barangay officials, and other responders.
Paulino said he was willing to extend assistance to the man as he recovers from the incident.
Authorities also reminded the public to show compassion and support to people going through emotional or personal crises.
