Comedy heavyweights Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto sent fans into a frenzy after trading surprise greetings on their respective noontime shows, in what appeared to be the clearest public hint yet of their long-rumored movie team-up.
The exchange happened Friday, July 3, as speculation intensified over a possible Star Cinema project bringing together two of the country’s biggest box-office comedians.
Vice first greeted Sotto during It’s Showtime, calling him “Bossing Vic” and expressing affection for the veteran comedian-host.
Sotto later responded on Eat Bulaga!, playfully telling Vice that they should talk, further fueling excitement among fans who have long wanted to see the two comedy icons share the big screen.
The exchange comes ahead of a scheduled movie announcement on Sunday, July 5, at Gateway Mall 2 in Cubao, Quezon City.
Entertainment reports said Star Cinema has released a “new movie alert,” although the film’s title, full cast, director, and official festival status have yet to be publicly disclosed.
The buzz grew even louder after a now-deleted social media post by aspiring actress Sofi Fermazi surfaced earlier this week, saying she would perform as a special guest artist at “Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto’s New Movie Announcement” on July 5.
Screenshots of the post circulated online before it was deleted, adding to speculation that the long-rumored collaboration is finally moving forward.
The possible team-up marks a rare crossover between two of the most bankable names in Philippine comedy.
Vice has headlined several major box-office hits and remains one of the biggest draws of It’s Showtime, while Sotto has long been associated with family-oriented Christmas films and the Metro Manila Film Festival through his comedy projects, including the Enteng Kabisote franchise.
Rumors of a Vic-Vice collaboration had been circulating since April, when Vice teased a major “pasabog” project for MMFF 2026 but stopped short of naming the co-star.
At the time, Vice said the project would mark a return to all-out comedy after recent films that leaned more heavily into dramatic material.
The possible entry is now being closely watched ahead of the July 7 announcement of the first batch of official entries for the 2026 Metro Manila Film Festival.
For now, the movie’s official title and MMFF status remain under wraps.
But with one playful exchange across rival noontime shows, Vice and Vic have already turned their rumored team-up into one of the most talked-about entertainment stories heading into the Christmas movie season.
