More than 61,000 public school pupils in Manila will receive free fresh milk three times a week under the expanded Yormilk 2.0 program, a city-led nutrition initiative aimed at helping address stunting and malnutrition among young learners.
The expanded program now covers all preschool, kindergarten, and Grade 1 pupils in Manila’s public schools.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso led the launch of Yormilk 2.0: Kaagapay ng Batang Maynila sa Kalusugan at Dr. Albert Elementary School on June 29, together with Vice Mayor Angela Lei “Chi” Atienza and National Dairy Authority Administrator Atty. Marcus Antonius T. Andaya.
Moreno said the program seeks to improve the health and well-being of children by giving them regular access to fresh milk while also easing food expenses for parents.
The mayor said Yormilk 2.0 is also expected to support local dairy farmers by increasing demand for locally produced milk.
The initiative forms part of Manila’s broader effort to strengthen child nutrition programs in public schools and help ensure that young learners are better supported during their formative years.
