A House senior lawmaker has ordered the immediate rollout of assistance for victims and families affected by the tragedy at San Jose National High School, assuring full support for medical and funeral expenses.

Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez dispatched personnel from his office shortly after the incident to coordinate with hospitals treating the injured and to inform medical authorities that the congressional office will cover hospitalization costs.

“Our priority is to ensure that the victims receive the medical care they need and that their families do not have to worry about the financial burden during this difficult time,” the solon said.

He also directed coordination with funeral service providers to ensure that expenses for those who died in the incident will be fully shouldered.

“No family should have to carry this burden alone,” he said, adding that affected families should be allowed to focus on grieving and recovery.

The office has likewise coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the provision of psychosocial support and trauma counseling for students, teachers, and other members of the school community.

Regional officials have been contacted to facilitate the deployment of assistance services in coordination with local government units and concerned agencies.

He said support operations will continue in the coming days as authorities work with hospitals, schools, and local officials to address the needs of those affected.

He likewise stressed the importance of collective response in times of crisis, noting that recovery will require sustained support for the victims and their families.
