NBI Rescues Five Russians, Filipina in Makati Anti-Trafficking Operation

  • August 14, 2026

Five Russian nationals and a Filipina were rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during an anti-trafficking operation in Makati City early Thursday, resulting in the arrest of a suspect.

The NBI reported that the six women “were allegedly being offered for commercial sexual exploitation under the guise of public relations modeling and companionship services.” The operation was launched after authorities received tip-offs regarding the recruitment and solicitation of women, including “pageant titleholders, artists, models and foreign nationals,” for commercial sex at varying rates.

During an entrapment operation at a hotel residence, an NBI poseur-buyer booked the women with the suspect, who allegedly agreed to provide each victim for “P25,000 plus commission.” Authorities arrested the suspect upon his receipt of marked money.

The six rescued victims were turned over to the Makati City Social Welfare and Development Office for “assessment, aftercare services and other necessary interventions.”

When questioned by reporters regarding his involvement in the alleged trafficking scheme, the suspect “only shook his head in disagreement.”
