Lufthansa Technik Philippines Targets 2028 Completion of Clark MRO Hub

Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) is set to complete its new widebody aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Clark International Airport by 2028, a development seen to strengthen the country’s position in the Asia-Pacific aviation services market.

The facility, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MacroAsia Corp., will span approximately 157,000 square meters upon full completion and is designed to accommodate up to nine widebody aircraft bays. Initial operations are also targeted to begin in 2028.

Once operational, the Clark site will complement LTP’s existing base at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), expanding the company’s capacity and supporting the Philippines’ push to become a more competitive hub for heavy aircraft maintenance in the region.

LTP is part of the Lufthansa Technik Group, a global leader in aircraft maintenance and engineering, and provides a full range of MRO services to international airline clients. Its capabilities include base maintenance checks for Airbus A320, A330, A340, A380, and Boeing 777 aircraft, along with structural modifications, cabin retrofits, and lease-return inspections.

The company currently operates its main base within an economic zone at NAIA, with additional line maintenance stations in Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Kalibo.

As of March 2026, LTP employed 3,125 personnel composed of engineers, mechanics, and technical support staff.

Financial data showed that LTP posted a net income of P109.86 million in the first quarter of 2026, lower than the P423.14 million recorded in the same period last year. Revenues for the quarter reached P5.04 billion, compared to P4.41 billion a year earlier.

The Clark expansion forms part of broader efforts to scale up aviation maintenance capabilities in the Philippines, particularly for widebody aircraft servicing, which remains a key growth segment in global aviation support services.
