Authorities in Tagum City rescued a female minor and arrested her 48-year-old uncle during an operation targeting alleged sexual abuse and online exploitation in Barangay Visayan Village, Davao del Norte.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified the suspect only as “Win,” who was apprehended by operatives from the CIDG Davao del Norte Provincial Field Unit in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO). He faces charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children Act, and Republic Act No. 7610, which protects children from abuse and exploitation.

According to police reports, the suspect allegedly coerced the minor into producing and sending explicit photos and videos in exchange for money. Investigators said the abuse began in 2024 and later escalated into online sexual exploitation.

The case came to light after the victim confided in a relative while her mother, an overseas Filipino worker, was abroad. The information was immediately reported to authorities, leading to the rescue operation and the suspect’s arrest.

CIDG Director Robert Morico II lauded the operating units for their swift response and reiterated the agency’s firm stance against all forms of child abuse and online exploitation. He emphasized the state’s duty to protect children’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, particularly in cases involving digital platforms.

CIDG officials also commended the Davao del Norte field unit, led by Rogelio Pineda Jr., along with regional personnel and CSWDO staff for their coordinated efforts in ensuring the minor’s safety.
