The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) has arrested a wanted individual facing a frustrated murder charge during an intelligence-driven operation in Matuguinao, Western Samar on June 12, 2026.
The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Western Samar Provincial Highway Patrol Team (WSPHPT) under the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 8 (RHPU-8) by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 30 in Manila. The warrant, dated November 7, 2025, set a recommended bail of P40,000 for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
Authorities said the arrested individual was part of a monitored list of wanted persons in the province. Following the operation, the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and brought to the WSPHPT office in Catbalogan City for documentation and proper turnover to the issuing court.
PNP-HPG Director Police Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan commended the operating units, citing the role of sustained intelligence work and coordination in tracking down wanted persons. He said the operation underscores the group’s commitment to lawful enforcement and bringing fugitives before the courts.
The Highway Patrol Group said it will continue its intelligence-led manhunt operations nationwide in support of public safety and the campaign against wanted individuals under the PNP’s strengthened law enforcement program.
