Church Group Sets Aside P2M Aid for Quake-Hit Mindanao Victims

The Metropolitan Bible Baptist Ekklesia (MBBE) has earmarked P2 million in assistance for churches and local government units affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao.

Manila Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr., who also serves as MBBE senior pastor, said the church will coordinate with pastors, church leaders, and local officials in quake-hit areas to assess the damage and identify communities in need of immediate support.

“Our hearts go out to all the families and communities affected by this devastating earthquake. We continue to pray for those who lost loved ones, those who were injured, and everyone whose homes and livelihoods have been affected,” he stressed.

He said MBBE is particularly concerned about churches that may have been damaged by the quake, noting that many of them also serve as centers of refuge, relief, and community support during disasters.

He noted that MBBE representatives will work with local church networks and LGUs in the coming days to determine the extent of the damage and assess both immediate and long-term needs of affected congregations and communities.

“In moments like these, the Body of Christ must come together. We may not be able to rebuild everything overnight, but we can stand with our brothers and sisters, help them get back on their feet, and remind them that they are not alone,” he said.

The solon from Manila also called on Christians across the country to pray for affected families, first responders, medical personnel, volunteers, and local officials involved in relief and recovery operations.

He said the church must respond not only through prayer but also through concrete acts of service.

“The church has always been strongest when it serves. This is a time for faith to be translated into action and for believers to demonstrate Christ’s love through tangible acts of compassion and support,” Abante said.
