A simple act of compassion brought new hope to a young student in Northern Samar after police personnel extended educational assistance to a child from an underprivileged family.
Personnel from Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Regional Office 8, through the Bobon Municipal Police Station, carried out a community assistance initiative in Barangay Sta. Clara, Bobon, Northern Samar, on June 8, 2026.
Police personnel personally handed over two sets of school uniforms, a school bag with supplies, and clothing to help support the child’s daily needs and education.
According to the Bobon Municipal Police Station, the child’s mother, who is a person with disability, has been struggling to provide for the family’s basic needs, including school expenses.
The initiative reflects the PNP’s continuing effort to strengthen community support alongside its law enforcement duties. It also forms part of the organization’s focused agenda on enhanced managing police operations, which seeks to make police service more responsive to the needs of vulnerable families and communities.
“Education opens doors for a better future. Patuloy na palalakasin ng PNP ang mga inisyatibong pang-edukasyon upang sa munting paraan ay matulungan ang mga bata na maabot ang kanilang mga pangarap,” according to PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
He added that even small gestures can make a meaningful difference for families in difficult circumstances.
“Even simple acts of kindness can bring hope to families in need. Sa simpleng pagtulong, naipapakita natin ang malasakit at pag-unawa sa kapwa,” he said.
Through similar community-based efforts, the PNP said it remains committed to serving not only as a law enforcement institution, but also as a partner of communities in extending support, hope, and assistance to those in need.
The initiative is aligned with the PNP’s campaign, “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
