The Philippine Army was among several security forces recognized for helping ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit and related meetings held in Cebu earlier this month.
The recognition was presented during an awarding ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center on May 16, where key military and police units involved in summit security operations were honored for their contributions.
Representing the Philippine Army during the ceremony was Vice Commander Major General Efren Morados.

Also recognized were the Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Presidential Security Command, AFP Cyber Command, and units of the Philippine National Police, including the Police Security and Protection Group and the Highway Patrol Group.
The National Organizing Council commended the participating agencies for their professionalism and coordinated efforts during the summit and related meetings held in various parts of Cebu from May 6 to 8.

Security forces were tasked with maintaining public safety, securing delegates, and ensuring uninterrupted summit activities attended by regional leaders and foreign officials.

In a statement, the Philippine Army said its participation reflects its continuing role in supporting national security and regional cooperation efforts.
The Army also underscored its commitment to ASEAN’s theme, “Navigating Our Future, Together,” emphasizing the importance of mutual trust, cooperation, and stability among nations in the region.
