The Philippine National Police (PNP) said its personnel arrested suspects and recovered a firearm following a shooting incident that alarmed residents in Iloilo City.
Based on the police report, Iloilo City Police Station 6 immediately responded after a commotion in the area led to gunfire, prompting concern among members of the community.
Responding officers secured the area and recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition, along with a fired cartridge case.
Police said follow-up operations and continuous investigation later led to the arrest of the suspects, who are now facing appropriate charges.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation reflected the police organization’s commitment to respond quickly to threats against public safety.
“We will not ignore any threat to the security of our communities. The prompt action of our police is part of our responsibility, ensuring the safety of every citizen and immediately holding accountable those who violate the law,” Nartatez said.
He said a strong and active police presence in communities remains important in preventing violent incidents from escalating, especially during nighttime.
The PNP said the successful operation was in line with its continuing duty to serve and protect the public under its “New PNP for the New Philippines” campaign, which promotes fast, honest, and responsive service.
