New Airbus Jet Boosts PH Long-Haul Fleet

A new Airbus A350-1000 has arrived in the Philippines as Philippine Airlines (PAL) continues to expand its long-haul fleet for routes linking the country to North America and other major international markets.

The aircraft is the flag carrier’s second A350-1000, following the delivery of its first unit in December 2025. It forms part of PAL’s order for nine A350-1000 aircraft under its fleet modernization program.

The A350-1000 is designed for long-haul flights and is expected to support the airline’s operations on high-demand international routes, particularly between the Philippines and North America.

PAL president Richard Nuttall said the new aircraft would help strengthen the airline’s long-haul operations as international travel demand continues to grow.

“As demand for international travel continues to grow, this second Airbus A350-1000 will play an important role in enhancing our long-haul operations and elevating the overall passenger experience while supporting the long-term modernization of Philippine Airlines,” Nuttall said.

The delivery comes as the airline continues to rebuild capacity after the pandemic and pursue its broader transformation program.

PAL reported a net income of US$78.77 million in the first quarter of 2026, up 2.6 percent from the same period last year. Total revenue rose 9.7 percent year-on-year to US$895.70 million.

The airline currently operates scheduled nonstop flights from Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao to 30 domestic destinations and 41 international points across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
