The 10th Infantry (Agila) Division joined in the 2nd Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 18, 2026, at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Mawab, Davao de Oro, as part of nationwide efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness.
Division Commander Major General Alvin Luzon led military personnel, civilian human resources, and attached units in the conduct of the exercise, which formed part of the government’s coordinated preparedness program across agencies and localities.
The drill included the execution of the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, as well as simulated search, rescue, evacuation, and medical response operations conducted by the 10th Station Hospital. These scenarios were designed to test response capability and improve coordination during seismic emergencies.
The activity was held as the 10ID’s Joint Task Force Agila continues humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in areas affected by the recent 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental and Sarangani Province. Troops have been assisting in relief distribution, damage assessment, and coordination with government agencies and humanitarian partners.
“Preparedness is our best defense against disasters. Through regular drills and actual response operations, we continue to strengthen our capability to protect lives and assist communities in times of need,” Maj. Gen. Luzon said.
