Two Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel were arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the Puerto Princesa City Police Office in Barangay Liwanag, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, on June 18, 2026.
The suspects, an Ensign and a Petty Officer Third Class assigned to the PCG Provost Marshal Unit in Palawan, were apprehended following an extortion complaint, according to authorities.
PCG spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab said the suspects were immediately taken to Police Station 1 in Puerto Princesa City for documentation and investigation.
“The PCG maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any form of misconduct and remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability in service,” Cayabyab said.
She added that the agency is fully cooperating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) as the investigation continues.
“The PCG has initiated a parallel investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish any liability under existing Coast Guard policies,” she said.
