Woman Injured After Allegedly Being Forced Out of Jeepney, Hit by Trailer Truck in Manila

A woman was injured after she was allegedly pushed out of a passenger jeepney and struck by a trailer truck along Osmeña Highway in Manila early Thursday morning.

The incident happened at around 2 a.m., with CCTV footage from Barangay 739 showing the victim making an unsafe exit from the front portion of the jeepney before falling onto the road.

Authorities said the woman was allegedly grabbed, pushed, and kicked out of the vehicle by the jeepney driver’s wife. A separate cellphone video showed the victim’s male companion attempting to board the moving jeepney before the woman was hit by a passing trailer truck.

The victim suffered serious injuries to her left arm and hand and was brought to a hospital, where she remains confined and is expected to undergo surgery.

According to the victim’s relatives, she claimed the driver’s wife forced her out of the jeepney, causing her to fall into the path of the trailer truck.

Police said the victim and her companion were traveling home after selling goods along Padre Faura Avenue when the incident occurred.

Barangay officials said a commotion inside the jeepney reportedly started after the driver’s wife accused the pair of attempting to avoid paying their fare.

Authorities also cited the jeepney driver for allegedly beating the red light, an incident that was captured on cellphone video.

The driver and his wife denied the allegations, stating in their statement submitted to the Manila Police District (MPD) that the victim and several bystanders had been disrupting passengers inside the vehicle prior to the incident.

The victim’s family said they may reconsider filing charges if the driver and his wife agree to help cover her medical expenses.

Authorities continue to investigate the case and are searching for the trailer truck driver, who reportedly fled the scene following the collision.
