Several Vehicles Recovered and Impounded in Anti-Carnapping Drive

The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) recovered and impounded several vehicles in separate operations nationwide as part of its intensified campaign against carnapping and other motor vehicle-related violations.

The operations, carried out by Regional Highway Patrol Units on June 3, 2026, focused on anti-carnapping enforcement, traffic law implementation, vehicle verification, and public assistance.

In Butuan City, Highway Patrol personnel in Agusan del Norte impounded a Mitsubishi Mirage G4 after verification showed that it was using an improvised plate and had questionable documents. The vehicle was placed under police custody for further investigation.

In La Union, authorities also impounded a Mitsubishi L300 van after the driver failed to present the required registration documents during a routine anti-carnapping operation. The vehicle was subjected to further verification.

In Pampanga, a motorcycle owner voluntarily turned over a Yamaha Aerox after inconsistencies were found in the ownership documents submitted during a motor vehicle clearance application. Police said the owner cooperated with the ongoing investigation.

Separate operations in Bulacan also led to the recovery and voluntary surrender of vehicles allegedly linked to financing-related disputes and schemes involving the concealment of vehicle identities. The vehicles were turned over for proper investigation and disposition after their possessors were informed of their status.

In Ilocos Sur, HPG personnel recovered a Yamaha Aerox motorcycle that had been reported as “failed to return” after the registered owner sought police assistance. The motorcycle is now under the custody of the Ilocos Sur Highway Patrol Team pending proper action.

PNP-HPG Director Police Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan commended the operating units for their vigilance and compliance with lawful procedures in handling motor vehicle-related cases.

“These accomplishments demonstrate the effectiveness of proactive police operations, public cooperation, and timely verification efforts in preventing motor vehicle-related offenses and protecting legitimate vehicle owners,” Batangan said.

The HPG said it will continue intelligence-driven operations, lawful enforcement actions, and community coordination to protect motorists and curb carnapping and other vehicle-related crimes.
