Several local government units across the Philippines have officially ordered the suspension of classes and school-related activities on Monday, October 5, to mark National and World Teachers’ Day.
Municipal executives issued executive directives granting teaching and non-teaching personnel time off to participate in events celebrating educators’ central role in nation-building and youth guidance.
In Infanta, Quezon, Mayor LA Ruanto declared the suspension of classes across public and private schools to recognize the dedication of local faculty members.
“Layunin nitong kilalanin at parangalan ang hindi matatawarang kontribusyon ng mga guro at mga kawani ng paaralan sa pagsusulong ng mabuting edukasyon at sa paghubog ng kabataan at komunidad,” he said.
He also said educators deserve widespread commendation for guiding and mentoring young learners.
Local governments in Romblon, Pangasinan, Bulacan, Quezon, and Leyte issued similar executive orders suspending face-to-face classes and administrative operations. Under Republic Act No. 10743, National Teachers’ Day is designated as a special working holiday, leaving formal class cancellations to the discretion of local government units and school administrations.
