Senator Padilla to Launch Six-Month Touring Exhibit on Youth Recruitment, Insurgency-Related Stories

Senator Robinhood “Robin” Padilla will launch a six-month nationwide touring exhibit on June 22, 2026, at the Senate of the Philippines, featuring narratives of former youth recruits, families, and individuals affected by the decades-long communist insurgency.

Titled “Memoirs of Teenage Rebels: From Conflict to Hope, Protecting the Next Generation,” the exhibit will showcase documentary screenings and narrative displays recounting experiences of former recruits, parents, and survivors of armed conflict.

The project is a collaboration between the Office of Senator Robinhood Padilla (OSRP), Hands Off Our Children (HOOC) Movement, Buklod Kapayapaan Federation, Inc. (BKFI), and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

Organizers said the exhibit builds on Padilla’s 2021 documentary “Memoirs of Teenage Rebels” and expands its scope by presenting new testimonies and case narratives.

The launch comes amid continued public discussion on insurgency-related violence, including recent armed encounters in Negros Occidental that have renewed attention on youth involvement in armed movements.

“Noong 2021, inilabas natin ang dokumentaryong Memoirs of Teenage Rebels upang ilahad ang mga kuwento ng mga kabataang naligaw ng landas dahil sa armadong tunggalian,” Padilla said. “Ngayon, may mga panibagong kuwento tayong dapat marinig—mga kuwento ng mga magulang, dating kabataang narekrut, mga biktima, at mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng sigalot.”

He said the exhibit aims to highlight personal stories of loss, recovery, and reintegration, emphasizing alternatives to armed struggle.

“Hindi lamang ito kuwento ng digmaan. Kuwento ito ng pamilya, pagmamahal ng magulang, pag-asa, at pagkakataong makapagsimulang muli,” he said.

According to organizers, the exhibit seeks to educate the public—particularly young audiences—on the consequences of armed conflict and promote peaceful participation in nation-building.

The Senate launch at the Quezon-Tolentino Committee Rooms in Pasay City will serve as the first stop of the touring exhibit, with succeeding venues in schools, universities, government offices, and communities to be announced.
