The Sandiganbayan has issued an arrest warrant and hold departure order against Sen. Jinggoy Estrada in connection with a graft case linked to the alleged flood control projects scandal.
The warrant was issued by the anti-graft court’s Second Division, which is handling the case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman against Estrada and several other respondents.
Former Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan was also included in the arrest warrant.
Bail was set at P90,000 for each accused, according to a source.
Estrada is accused of allegedly receiving around P573 million in kickbacks from various infrastructure projects.
The issuance of the warrant marks a major development in the case, which stemmed from allegations of irregularities in flood control projects and the supposed diversion of public funds through kickbacks.
The hold departure order bars the accused from leaving the country without permission from the court while the case is pending.
