The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee has invited several resource persons and witnesses, including former Speaker Martin Romualdez and 18 Marines, to the resumption of its inquiry into alleged irregularities in government infrastructure projects.
Sen. Pia Cayetano, chairperson of the panel, said the hearing scheduled on Thursday will form part of the committee’s continuing investigation into questionable flood control projects.
The upcoming hearing will be the ninth conducted by the committee on the issue.
“We look forward to the cooperation of all invited resource persons and agencies as the Committee carries out its mandate in aid of legislation and public accountability,” Cayetano said.
Among those invited were Romualdez; lawyer Levito Baligod; and the 18 Marines who allegedly worked for former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co.
Also invited were Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon or his representative, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla or his representative, the secretary of justice or a representative, and the budget secretary or a representative.
The committee also invited Mark Ticsay and Paul Estrada, who were alleged to be bagmen of Co, as well as Joshua Cano, John Kerby Pajarilla, Roland Supat, lawyer Sam Buenviale, Arnel Ganggob, Jocelyn Servino, a certain Edwin, and Brice Hernandez.
The Blue Ribbon Committee said the 18 Marines were required to submit their notarized affidavits, whether individual or otherwise, by June 3, 2026.
It remained unclear whether Cayetano would preside over Thursday’s hearing amid reports that the Senate leadership was considering the creation of a subcommittee to handle the probe.
The proposed subcommittee is expected to be headed by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta and would take the lead in investigating the issues surrounding the flood control projects.
