Police units in Quezon Province and Camarines Sur successfully intercepted and arrested two armed robbery suspects aboard a passenger bus along Maharlika Highway in Gumaca, Quezon, on June 26, 2026, following rapid intelligence-sharing and coordinated operations.
The suspects, identified as Christopher Manlangit Dela Cruz, 50, of Muntinlupa City, and Aljohn Torpio Divino, 37, of Cainta, Rizal, were tracked after allegedly committing a robbery in Libmanan, Camarines Sur.
Acting on a hot pursuit request from the Libmanan Municipal Police Station, officers from the 2nd Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company, Gumaca Municipal Police Station, and the Provincial Intelligence Unit quickly established a dragnet around 10:55 a.m.
The bus was stopped minutes later, and passengers were asked to disembark while officers conducted a systematic search. The suspects were located and apprehended, and a subsequent search of their brown sling bag uncovered a loaded 9mm pistol, a loaded .40-caliber pistol with two magazines, assorted foreign and Philippine currency, and several pieces of jewelry believed to be connected to the robbery.
The arrested individuals and recovered items were immediately turned over to the Gumaca Municipal Police Station for documentation, investigation, and filing of criminal charges.
Authorities said the operation highlights the importance of intelligence-driven policing and swift inter-unit coordination in preventing criminals from escaping. The timely exchange of information and rapid execution of the dragnet ensured the safety of the riding public while demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated enforcement along critical transit routes.
Officials also emphasized that the operation reflects the Philippine National Police’s commitment to proactive policing and intelligence-led crime prevention, in line with ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement coordination and safeguard communities.
