Power restoration efforts in areas affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao have reached 99.24 percent, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.
The DOE reported that the South Cotabato II Electric Cooperative (SOCOTECO II) has restored electricity to 340,582 of its 342,842 affected consumer connections, leaving only a small number of households still without power.
Despite the near-complete restoration, work remains ongoing in upland barangays in Glan, where landslides triggered by the earthquake damaged major distribution lines. Repair teams are continuing efforts to reconnect the remaining affected communities.
The DOE said it is coordinating with electric cooperatives and energy sector partners to ensure safe and sustained restoration of electricity services across Mindanao.
It added that efforts are focused on completing remaining repairs and fully restoring power in all affected areas as part of ongoing post-earthquake recovery operations.
