The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reaffirmed its commitment to reviewing Vice President Sara Duterte’s security concerns, reassuring the public that the police force remains professional, politically neutral and dedicated to safeguarding all citizens.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said that the law enforcement agency respects the Vice President’s concerns regarding her safety and that of her family, following her public remarks expressing fear for her children and personal security.
“The Philippine National Police remains steadfastly committed to the rule of law, ensuring that all our operations are conducted with utmost professionalism, impartiality and absolute respect for individual rights without fear or favor,” Nartatez said.
The statement followed Duterte posting bail at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court for three counts of grave threats filed by the Department of Justice. The PNP provided security during her court appearance, ensuring her safe arrival and departure from the premises.
Addressing public trust, Gen. Nartatez emphasized that restoring confidence in law enforcement requires continuous, principled action.
“Rebuilding trust is a continuous process of demonstrating our integrity through our actions, and we assure the public and our leaders that the PNP stands ready to protect every Filipino fairly and professionally,” he added.
The PNP leadership has instructed designated operational units to monitor and conduct comprehensive threat evaluations regarding the Vice President and her family.
Law enforcement authorities also invited Duterte or her authorized representatives to submit any supporting documentation or threat reports to assist in the formal verification and assessment process.
