The Philippine National Police (PNP) has expressed appreciation to Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson for his public show of confidence in the police organization amid what authorities described as a politically charged environment.
Lacson, a former PNP chief, earlier said that neither the police nor the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) would be influenced by political maneuvering, amid circulating reports and rumors of possible unrest within the security sector.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said Lacson’s statement carries significant weight given his background, calling it a strong morale boost for the organization.
“We highly appreciate and welcome the vote of confidence from former PNP Chief, Senator Panfilo Lacson, as it reaffirms that the Philippine National Police remains solid, professional, and entirely unaffected by any attempt to compromise its apolitical stance,” Nartatez said.
He added that the remark reinforces the current leadership’s commitment to institutional integrity and unwavering loyalty to the Constitution and the chain of command.
Nartatez also assured the public that the PNP remains focused on its mandate and will not be distracted by political issues or unverified claims.
“I want to assure the Filipino people that the men and women of the PNP will not be swayed by rumors or divisive political interests. Our only mandate is to preserve public order and enforce the rule of law,” he said.
He directed all police units nationwide to stay focused on operational duties and avoid engaging in political discussions or speculation that could undermine professionalism, urging personnel to let discipline and service define the organization’s response.
