PNP Says Labor Day Rallies Remain Generally Peaceful

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that Labor Day activities across the country have remained largely peaceful and orderly as of 9 am, with no major incidents recorded in areas under monitoring.

In an initial assessment, authorities said at least nine rallies were staged nationwide, drawing an estimated 3,410 participants. Eight of these demonstrations were still ongoing at the time of reporting, while one had already concluded.

Police said the gatherings focused mainly on labor-related concerns such as wage increases, rising fuel costs, and stronger worker protection, reflecting continuing engagement between various sectors on key socio-economic issues.

To secure the events, the PNP deployed more than 106,000 personnel across the country, with additional support from partner-agencies and force multipliers. Officers were tasked to maintain visibility, manage traffic, secure entry points, and ensure that protests remained orderly.

The police also maintained coordination with rally organizers to uphold the right to peaceful assembly while safeguarding public safety.

PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended participants for their cooperation, noting that activities have so far proceeded without disruption.

He said the police would remain on full alert throughout the day, emphasizing their role not only in maintaining security but also in supporting the safe expression of public concerns.

The PNP said it will continue to monitor Labor Day activities nationwide and sustain its presence in key areas to ensure peace and order for the rest of the observance, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
