The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has dismantled a major online scam operation in Parañaque City, arresting 48 suspects in an entrapment operation targeting a condominium-based fraud hub involved in investment and romance scams.

Agents from the NBI Special Action Unit raided the site last week after receiving intelligence on syndicates running “love scams,” “pig butchering,” and cryptocurrency fraud schemes.

Armed with a warrant to search and seize computer data, operatives secured the area and apprehended 41 Filipino women and seven foreign nationals allegedly behind the operation.

Authorities confiscated multiple computer workstations, laptops, mobile phones, internet routers, and other digital equipment believed to have been used in the scams.

The suspects are now undergoing inquest proceedings for alleged violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag said the agency remains firm in its campaign against cybercrime, vowing continued crackdowns on fraudulent networks.

He stressed that the NBI will continue safeguarding the public from online predators by shutting down scam hubs operating across the country.
