PNP Reports 45% Drop in Focus Crimes in Negros Island Region

The Philippine National Police reported a significant improvement in the peace and order situation in the Negros Island Region, with focus crime incidents dropping by 44.94 percent in June 2026 compared to the same period last year.

Records from the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region showed sustained declines across all focus crime categories.

Murder cases decreased by five percent, from 20 incidents to 19, while homicide posted the sharpest drop at 71.43 percent, falling from seven cases to two.

Physical injury cases also decreased by 88.89 percent, from 9 incidents to 1.

Robbery cases declined by 16.67 percent, from six incidents to five, while theft fell by 25 percent, from 16 incidents to 12.

Motorcycle carnapping was reduced by 33.33 percent, from six incidents to four, while no motor vehicle carnapping incident was recorded during the month, compared to one case in the same period last year.

The PNP said the sustained decline reflects the impact of intensified police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, focused crime prevention initiatives, and stronger collaboration with local government units and community stakeholders.

The gains also support the PNP’s Safer Cities Initiative, which promotes proactive policing and closer coordination with communities to create safer public spaces and reduce opportunities for crime.

The ongoing efforts are also aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which seeks to strengthen public safety through responsive, intelligence-led policing.
