The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group recovered two motor vehicles and impounded another in separate operations conducted on July 7, 2026, as part of its intensified campaign against carnapping, failed-to-return schemes, and traffic law enforcement.
In Carmen, North Cotabato, personnel of PHPT North Cotabato under Regional Highway Patrol Unit 12 recovered a locally alarmed Nissan Navara after the registered owner sought police assistance regarding a vehicle that had allegedly not been returned by an individual entrusted with its possession.
The vehicle was located along the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion.
In Butuan City, personnel of RHPU13 Headquarters recovered a Changan SUV in Barangay Libertad after it was flagged down during an anti-carnapping operation for traffic violations.
Verification showed that the vehicle had been locally reported as a failed-to-return motor vehicle under an existing RHPU13 blotter entry.
In a separate operation, personnel of PHPT Surigao del Norte under RHPU13 impounded a Toyota motor vehicle in Surigao City after it was intercepted for traffic violations, including failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to carry the required registration documents.
PNP-HPG Director PBGEN Rommel S Batangan commended the operating personnel for their vigilance and said sustained anti-carnapping operations remain essential in preventing motor vehicle-related crimes.
“These accomplishments highlight the importance of intensified police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and prompt public reporting in safeguarding motor vehicle owners. The Highway Patrol Group remains steadfast in its commitment to recovering unlawfully possessed vehicles and ensuring that all reported cases are properly acted upon in accordance with the law.”
The PNP-HPG encouraged vehicle owners to immediately report suspicious transactions and failed-to-return incidents to the nearest Highway Patrol Group office to allow prompt police action.
