PNP Probes License Plate-Less Patrol Vehicle Caught on Commonwealth Avenue

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched an internal investigation after a marked patrol vehicle was photographed operating along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City without a visible license plate, prompting public concern on social media.

The issue came to light following a viral social media post by a observant citizen. In response, PNP leadership promptly referred the matter to the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) to verify the vehicle’s details and ownership.

The PSPG subsequently confirmed that the vehicle in question is officially registered and assigned to their unit. However, the PNP emphasized that official unit assignment does not exempt police vehicles from traffic regulations and vehicle identification laws.

“The PSPG confirmed that the vehicle is a duly registered PNP vehicle assigned to the group,” the PNP said in an official statement. “Nonetheless, its operation must comply with existing requirements governing vehicle identification and the proper display of license plates.”

Both the specific unit and the personnel responsible for operating the vehicle have been identified as internal proceedings get underway. The police force noted that any administrative lapses or direct violations uncovered during the investigation will be addressed strictly under existing PNP rules and due process.

Expressing gratitude to the public for helping enforce standards within their ranks, the PNP reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency and discipline across all units.

“The PNP appreciates the vigilance of the concerned citizen in bringing the matter to the attention of authorities for appropriate action,” the statement read. “The PNP remains committed to accountability, discipline, and professionalism. Concerns raised by the public shall continue to be taken seriously and acted upon through proper channels.”
