The Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) arrested two suspected carnapping suspects and recovered a stolen motorcycle during a hot pursuit operation in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on June 15, 2026.
The Cavite Provincial Highway Patrol Team, working with the Cavite Mobile Patrol Unit, tracked down the suspects shortly after a motorcycle was reported stolen from a parking area inside Don Gregorio Heights Subdivision.
Authorities said the swift response led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of two individuals suspected of violating Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
The motorcycle was turned over to investigators for documentation and evidentiary processing, while the suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and remain under police custody pending the filing of formal charges.
PNP-HPG Director Police Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan praised the responding units, citing the importance of coordinated action between law enforcement and the public in resolving vehicle theft cases.
“This successful operation highlights the value of close coordination between the public and law enforcement, as well as the effectiveness of modern tracking technology in the immediate recovery of stolen vehicles,” Batangan said.
He added that the HPG remains committed to pursuing carnapping syndicates and ensuring the prompt recovery and return of stolen vehicles to rightful owners.
The police unit also reiterated its call for the public to immediately report suspicious activity and to use available security and tracking systems to help deter and solve motor vehicle theft incidents more quickly.
