A coordinated outreach mission in Barangay Masi, Rizal, Cagayan brought basic services, health education, and community activities to members of the Agta community under Project IMA Matters Year 2.2, with the Philippine National Police (PNP) working alongside military units, local officials, and civic groups.
Led by the 1st Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company in coordination with the Rizal Police Station, 17th Infantry Battalion, local government units, the Municipal Health Office, JCI Tuguegarao Ybanag, barangay officials, and teachers from Masi Elementary School, the initiative aimed to strengthen community support through direct engagement and basic service delivery.
Families received hygiene kits and participated in a health education session focused on proper handwashing and personal sanitation practices, part of efforts to improve disease prevention awareness in the community.
Children also took part in recreational activities designed to encourage social interaction and creativity, including a painting workshop where young participants were able to express themselves through art.
Residents were given free haircuts as part of the service package, followed by a boodle fight that organizers said symbolized equality, unity, and shared experience among participants.
Each family also received a commemorative photo, marking what organizers described as a day of connection, support, and community engagement.
The initiative aligns with the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly its Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support programs, which aim to strengthen police presence and engagement in remote and vulnerable communities.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the outreach reflects the value of direct service delivery on the ground.
“Service is best shown through action on the ground. We are here to serve and care for every community we reach,” Nartatez said.
He added that trust in law enforcement grows through consistent engagement and visibility in communities.
“Trust is built when people feel our presence and sincerity,” he said.
Authorities said the program underscores the importance of multi-sector cooperation in reaching geographically isolated communities and delivering basic services that support health, education, and social inclusion.
The PNP said it will continue similar outreach initiatives as part of its broader strategy to strengthen ties with indigenous peoples and far-flung communities under its “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas” program, emphasizing faster, more responsive, and community-centered public service.
