Police destroyed more than P6.1 million worth of marijuana plants and dried marijuana materials in the Cordillera region during a weeklong series of anti-illegal drug operations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

The operations, carried out by the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) from May 10 to 16, 2026, formed part of the PNP’s continuing campaign against illegal drug sources, particularly marijuana cultivation sites in remote areas.

Based on reports from the PRO-CAR Regional Operations Division, operatives from the Benguet Police Provincial Office and Kalinga Police Provincial Office conducted 14 marijuana eradication operations during the period.

In Benguet, police launched 12 separate operations that led to the destruction of 16,790 fully grown marijuana plants. Authorities also seized 14,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks, leaves, and fruiting tops. The confiscated and destroyed marijuana products in Benguet were valued at P3.358 million based on the standard drug price.

In Kalinga, two separate eradication operations resulted in the destruction of 14,000 fully grown marijuana plants with an estimated value of P2.8 million.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for sustaining pressure on illegal drug sources and underscored the need for continuous intelligence-driven operations against marijuana cultivation.

“These operations reflect our continuing commitment to eliminate illegal drug sources and protect communities from the harmful effects of prohibited substances. We will sustain intelligence-driven operations and strengthen coordination with local communities to prevent the resurgence of illegal cultivation activities,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said it would continue intensifying anti-illegal drug operations nationwide under its campaign for a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
