The Philippine Navy hosted a senior official of the Royal Malaysian Navy during a courtesy call at Navy Headquarters on July 7, 2026, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral naval cooperation.
Vice Admiral Dato Khir Junaidi Bin Idris RMN, Commander of the Eastern Fleet of the Royal Malaysian Navy, led the Malaysian delegation during the visit.
He was welcomed by Commodore Junjie Tabuada PN, Acting Commander of the Philippine Fleet.
During the meeting, the two naval leaders recognized the longstanding partnership between the Philippine Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy. They also exchanged views on their respective naval operations and discussed possible areas for collaboration and joint activities.
The courtesy call formed part of the official port visit of Royal Malaysian Navy ship KD Kedah (F171), which was in the country from July 6 to 9.
The Philippine Navy said the port visit includes several key engagements aimed at further deepening ties between the two naval forces.
The Navy said the activity underscored the shared commitment of the Philippines and Malaysia to promote professional exchanges, strengthen goodwill, and enhance bilateral cooperation in support of regional peace and security.
