President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reappointed Walter C. Wassmer and Jose L. Querubin to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Monetary Board, extending their terms on the central bank’s highest policy-making body until July 2032.

Wassmer first joined the Monetary Board in July 2024, while Querubin was appointed in September 2024.

BSP Governor and Monetary Board Chairman Eli M. Remolona Jr. welcomed their reappointments, citing their contributions to policy deliberations and decision-making.

“Since joining the Monetary Board in 2024, both Wassmer and Querubin have made invaluable contributions to the Board’s deliberations and decision-making. Their expertise in financial markets, commercial banking, and risk management complements the Board’s strength in economics, public service, and business,” Remolona said.

Before joining the Monetary Board, Wassmer served as senior executive vice president and head of institutional banking at BDO until his retirement in 2022.

He later joined the BDO Board, where he served as a member of the Executive Committee, Trust Committee, Risk Management Committee, and Related Party Transactions Committee.

Wassmer also previously held positions at Far East Bank & Trust Co., UnionBank of the Philippines, Bancom Finance Corp., and IFC Leasing and Acceptance Corp.

Querubin, meanwhile, served as president and chief executive officer of United Coconut Planters Bank from 2003 to 2007.

He also served as a board member of ASEAN Finance Corporation, now AFC Merchant Bank, and held senior posts at Bank of America, Solid Bank Corp., and Citibank.

Querubin was also president and chief executive officer of Megalink and secretary of the Bankers Association of the Philippines.
