The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have assisted more than 4,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the security situation in Saudi Arabia, as the government continues to provide support to those in need.
According to DMW data, more than 5,400 services have been extended to affected OFWs, including food, medicines, accommodation, transportation, and financial assistance.
The assistance also includes repatriation, or the safe return of Filipino workers to the Philippines.
The DMW said the safety and welfare of Filipino migrant workers remain a government priority under the “Saving Lives” component of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, Transport (UPLIFT) initiative.
The effort is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that no OFW is left behind in the delivery of government assistance.
